I am a Pottsgrove proud parent with 2 boys who attend Lower Pottsgrove Elementary and The Pottsgrove Middle School. My family and I moved into the Pottsgrove area 8 years ago because we felt it was the best school district for our  boys to thrive in their educational career.

For Pottsgrove to make progress, it is necessary to establish a partnership among parents, teachers, and administration. All of us must pledge to communicate and collaborate with one another to ensure the success of our students

Collaboration: Setting goals together can help everyone work towards a common objective. Teachers can work with parents to set academic and behavior goals for their children, while administrators can set school-wide goals that everyone can work towards.

Communication:
Open and regular communication is key to ensuring that everyone is on the same page. Teachers can update parents on their child’s progress, and administrators can provide updates on school initiatives and policies. Parents can share any concerns or questions they have with teachers and administrators.

Commitment: A promise that by working together, administration, teachers, and parents can create a supportive and collaborative environment that helps students succeed both academically and personally.

Giving back to the community and supporting our schools are causes that are very dear to me. Additionally, I have a deep passion for advocating for individuals with special needs and providing support to their families.

Organization Details

Vice-Chair: Right to Education Local Task Force 23 of Montgomery County The purpose of the LTF is to strengthen, improve and monitor programs, services and parent satisfaction in Montgomery County. The Local Task Force provides workshops on topics of interest in Special Education that are open to the public.

Peer Monitor: Cyclical Monitoring for Continuous Improvement (CMCI) – All school districts and charter schools in the state are audited to ensure that they are complying with federal and state special education regulations and are improving performance outcomes of students with disabilities. 

F2MAX Member: The purpose of Families to the MAX is to increase the capacity of Pennsylvania schools to provide all students, including those with complex instructional needs, with maximum access to learning of the general education curriculum and the Pennsylvania Core Standards.

The Pottsgrove Village:  Parent Advisory Board member – The Pottsgrove Village is a collaboration between school and community families of children with special needs and the Pottsgrove School District’s Special Education Department with a goal of increasing understanding, inclusion and advocacy through education and networking. 

Pottsgrove Educational Foundation: Board Vice-President – Provide all students with the opportunity to explore their interests in technology, engineering, electronics, computer science, and mechanical design in collaboration with their peers outside the regular school day through extracurricular activities and mentoring programs. Provide all students with the opportunity to see professional performing arts groups both in and out of the school setting.

Pottsgrove Helping Hands – Amid the COVID pandemic, numerous families faced hardship. In collaboration with several Pottsgrove parents, we took the initiative to arrange an Angel Tree project that garnered donations from numerous generous families in the locality, providing gifts for over 150 children. We also conducted a winter coat drive and gathered school supplies to support those who were in need when returning to in-person learning.

Parent Education & Advocacy Leadership (PEAL) Center Family Leadership Institute 2023 attendee – The PEAL Center is an organization of parents of children with disabilities reaching out to assist other parents and professionals. They provide workshops, training, and more. Parent advisors assist families with information about the special education process and problem-solving strategies.

Adventure Grove Inclusive Playgrounds – Board Vice-President. Adventure Grove Inclusive playground plans to bring people of all ages and abilities together in play. Allowing them the freedom to explore, imagine, create and play without limitations. This freedom will encourage us to look beyond the differences and to celebrate similarities so we all can experience the world of play equally.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports – PBIS is a program implemented in our district as a preventative measure to bullying, harassment, and discrimination. Establishing a school-wide expectation for common respect, teaching what that means, and ensuring that all students and faculty and staff members share in the responsibility of making schools respectful settings can make a difference. Pottsgrove uses “The Falcon Four” as their PBIS focus which includes: Be Safe, Be Positive, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible.
